Both Habitat for Humanity and Second Harvest Food Bank have helped during the worst of times for Louisiana and the Gulf South Region. Brought to our attention in 2005 and beyond during the recovery from Hurricane Katrina and later Hurricane Rita, both organizations have continued assisting the disaster victims of the 2016 Floods in Louisiana and in 2017 the Tornado Damaged neighborhoods of North Shore of Lake Pontchartrain and New Orleans eastside. Without their help, many STARFLEET members would have been relocated instead of being allowed to rebuild and return to their homes as well as getting timely food donations when funds were running out.
The International Conference of 2017 would like to aide both of these organizations with their ongoing missions to help those in need during times of need; and thus, all charity proceeds will be going to both charities.
If you would like to make a donation to his year’s Charity Auction by bringing an item or one-hundred items to the IC hotel, contact our Charity Liaison., RADM Reed Bates, with a description of the item and the value the item was obtained. Having this information beforehand will aide in the speed of the charity auction.
